The Optoma H78DC3s div input falls just shy of fully displaying every pixel a 720p HD source, but viewing program material did not reveal this. The x-men 2 DVD also looked awesome with decent color saturation and natural skin tones.
Color decoding is perhaps this projectors weakest performance characteristic, but unlike most displays with color-decoding issues, the H78DC3 doesn't push red or green. Of course, there are several aspect-ratio choices, which accessed via the format button on remote. This was a great projector for us.
Our review sample was a white, rectangular box with the lens assembly located all way to left when floor mounted or right side of chassis on ceiling. The contrast control is on steroids and should be set carefully as it can severely clip whites, eliminating a lot of detail in bright areas if too high. I like the setup features better than one replaced it with, but we had to do something and a newer seemed good choice at time. Custom installers will appreciate the inclusion of an rs-232 control port for programming projectors functionality into Max and cresting touch-panel remote systems.
A trio of color-temperature selections as well three gamma settings are also on board. Very versatile setup, with keystone corrections, plenty of zoom, focus and such. I put a new bulb in it only thing knew to try, but that did nothing for the problem. It is intuitively laid out, relatively comfortable, and easy to wield. It runs both quietly and fairly cool, weighs in at a mere 24 pounds.
